Hello Jim,

Thanks for your reaction, but it does not help me.

When loading, only one instruction gives an error:

C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\devcfg.exe –add net vnet c:\Program
Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\drivers\virtualnet.inf

The error is:

“InstallSelectedDriver failed, error code=0x00000006”.

Any other suggestion? Thank you.

Subject: RE: [vpn-help] Shrewsoft VPN v.2.2.2 don't work with Windows 8.1 64bit

Mike, I wish I could remember the exact steps I took to get things working
after my 8.1 upgrade. I also don't remember the specific symptom I experienced
when trying to connect to the remote gateway - it may have been a negotiation
timeout, but it also could have been an error related to the virtual adapter.

In any case, here are the steps I would take, if the problem happened to me
again, and a simple uninstall/reboot/reinstall of the Shrew client didn't work:

- uninstall Shrew client

- remove any leftover traces of Shrew (program files / programdata / registry)

- remove any hidden non-present networking devices from device manager

- check that no Shrew filter drivers exist on the physical network interfaces;
if so, remove them

- perform a 'netsh int tcp reset' and 'netsh winsock reset' from an
administrative command prompt to "reset" the networking

- reboot and confirm all networking is functional

- install Shrew client "fresh"

- hope for the best!

HTH,

Jim

Hi Jim,

the Device is available. Removing the Device, including the .inf result in an
file missing error by deinstalling shrew-soft. Rebooting and reinstalling
doesn't solve.

Deinstalling, removing all "Shrew" in Registry, rebooting, reinstalling
Shrew-Soft doesn't solve.

The problem "negotiation timeout occurs" remains ...

Any suggestion?

Thanxs

    Dear Sirs,

I'm using several connections to different gateways. Since XP it works

fine, also at last with W8-64. But since upgrading to 8.1 64 bit no

    connection works.

The access-manager starts as usuall, connections regarsless if with

XAUTH or not, but always with PSK, don't work.

After "Bringing up tunnel ..." a timeout occurs

    negotiation timeout occurs

    tunnel diabled

    detached from key daemon

Some of the target gateways are reachable over ISDN. There I can see,

that no communication is receiving from the VPN-Client.

My Internetconnection is done over a Wireless Intel 135 and a bintec

rs232bw gateway. If I use an other machine running W7-64 all works fine,

as it would be before upgrading my machine to Windows 8.1.

    Is there a solution available?

    With best regards

    Mike
