We have a non-VPP-App which acts as a control plane entity. This will send session installation onto data-plane-VPP. For this communication, if we use plain UDS communication ( using memif ), and avoid any eth/IP layer processing, it will be easy in the non-VPP-App. Otherwise, we need to eth/IP/UDP layer processing at non-VPP-APP, which I feel adds overhead in our case. I see that, currently, VPP Memif plugin support "ETH" and "IP" modes of operation. If it can support "RAW" mode, then we can avoid any of the IP layer processing and communicate using plain UDS messages. Do you think, this makes sense ? If it makes sense, I can make changes accordingly and come up with a "RAW" plugin which will be one of the next nodes from "memif" node. Please let me know. Thanks & Regards, Satish
