$ telnet box 22 Connected... Connection closed by remote host Does that look familiar? If so, try disabling DMA and other disk-related stuff. It's possible that the disks are going away if you're seeing the above. I have seen this numerous times on Intel/IDE machines over the last few years when their disks had died. David.
