Hi Gianluca,

you were right. I gave a try with parallel projection and the bug
disappeared.

I will check the rays computation code to try to understand what is wrong
with the perspective projection.

Best regards,

Luigi Gallo

Hi again,

looking at it better, I understand that you have found the same bug I have
posted previously (called 'Volume Deformation' on bug-tracker. N.B.: I'm
registered as AGPX on the bug-tracker). I have already discussed this with
Lisa Avila. Probably is a problem related to the computation of the
entry/exit rays in the cube. Also, I have noticed that, with parallel
projection, this bug disappears. Can you please give a try with such kind of
projection, please? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Gianluca Arcidiacono

Oggetto: [VtkEdge] Probable bug when dollying the camera

Hi all,

I'm testing some features of the GPU volume mapper. I found it really great,
however I believe there is still a bug to solve.
It happens when dollying the camera toward the volume. In greater details,
it seems to happen when the camera enters the bounding box of the volume.

At this link:
http://www.luigigallo.net/errorGPUrendering.avi
<http://www..luigigallo.net/errorGPUrendering.avi>
You can find a short video (2.19 MB) that shows what happens when dollying
the camera. Inside the white rectangle you can see the volume as it is
expected (I use the vtkVolumeRayCastMapper), outside the white rectangle you
can see the distortion introduced by the vtkKWEVolumeMapper.

You can easily reproduce the bug by using the vtkKWEVolumeMapper as volume
mapper and vtkInteractorStyleTrackballCamera as interactor style (in
particular, I used vtkDICOMImageReader to load a DICOM series). By moving up
the mouse you will see a sudden "overdolly" of the camera.

Best Regards,
Luigi Gallo
