Wyatt,

I like those excuses and I think I will adopt them for myself! Unfortunately I had the same luck, bad luck, on the Klickitat this last Saturday. Lots of Chinook, no steelhead! I fished the lower stretch of the above the town of Klickitat. I wonder if it would be better to fish for steelhead upriver. Those Salmon sure were pesky!

                                                Good luck!!!

Subject: Methow

I just returned from a day and a half on the Methow.  I got lots of wading and casting practice and almost landed a fat little fourteen inch trout.  I also saw large numbers of large salmon.  But I didn't land, or even touch a steelhead.

I have prepared a list of excuses.  I'm new at this.  I spent to much time fishing marginal water.  I don't really even now what good water looks like.  Too many salmon in the river.

I think that there is some truth to the salmon theory.  They're big, ugly, and mean.  They can't even stand the company of themselves never mind other fishes.  If I was a steelhead I would definitely keep my distance from Chinook.

I guess it was good to be out on the water, a river no less.  I'm just beginning to learn about steelhead and salmon and rivers so it is pretty cool just being out there.

Anyhow maybe next week I'll go to the Klickitat.

Wyatt
