Another old Idaho resident...I also spent a year over there, working on the North Fork Clearwater in '80. Wow, that's 23 years ago now. Had a couple of great trips to Kelly Creek and have always wanted to go back.
One of my first fishing experiences there was fairly early in the year. Being a recent arrival in camp, and in Idaho, I thought the North Fork was beautiful. So, one sunny day I strung up a rod and walked to the bank. Fishing was very exciting, and very productive. I was impressed by both numbers and size. Only a little later did someone tell me that the season had not opened yet, and that most of those fish were heading up river from the reservoir - which was one of the reasons the season was still closed......boy, they were hungry and ready to bite.
Ah, now that I've said that - what is the statute of limitations on fishing out of season?
