Some have messed around with locking ferrules (a lot of old bamboo rods had these) but they have proven a little bulky. I hope someone figures it out but until then 5 minutes of tape and checking throughout the day really isn't a big deal. I check my ferrules on my single handers as well but that is mainly because I use then to spey cast with.
When you look at how much multi directional torque you apply to these rods it isn't surprising they come loose. With single handers you are mainly casting straight ahead on one plane so the ferrules have an easier time staying together. Watch a good caster put a spey rod through the different casts and it is surprising they stay together at all. -sean -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Brenden Portolese Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 10:07 AM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: RE: Broke ma rod I find it extraordinary that you have to do this with spey rods... wow.. Id say the market is ready for an innovation.
