I would like to be able to use some .pdf map files in iMap. However,
iMap cannot handle .pdfs

I have a feeling that this is currently the subject of a case before
the courts in the US where a person who wrote a program to decode
Acrobat files is being prosecuted. The safest thing would be to take
a screen shot and use a graphics program like Photoshop to edit it
and convert to .jpg

No, Dimitri Skylarov is being prosecuted for breaking trivial PDF encryption, which doesn't have anything to do with rendering unencrypted PDF files.

Screen snapshots are probably still the best way to get at the JPEG though :)

Have fun,
