This whole discussion thread is probably fairly pointless - Apple is a US-based company. They'll have a tendency to price things in US dollars and work it out from there. Importing goods into other countries attracts shipping and taxes and other costs that are unavoidable. Apple Australia accounts for approximately 1% (that's ONE percent) of Apple's worldwide revenue. WA accounts for approximately 10% of that (last I saw). Troy's comments about cross-subsidies from larger markets are probably pretty accurate...
