On the G3 list there has been much discussion about Pram Zapping.

You may think that getting the chimes just once is enough.

Apparently under some circumstances it is necessary to hold down
the keys until you have heard as many as 12 sets of chimes
and then release the keys.

That's right.... Twelve sets of chimes.

Suggest that you try that and then see if you can boot from the CD
