Dear WAMUGgers I've recently installed OS X 10.1.2 on a DV iMac.
Several days later, on startup, a broken folder icon appeared and that was it... no startup. I could start from DiskTools and select OS 9 startup and that would work, but not OS X.
I have reinstalled all OS X and updates and now it is running well (I trust) but I'm puzzled about the cause of the problem. Can anyone advise please? Will it happen again? Is there a simpler solution than reinstallation?
Interestingly I tried using Disk Tools from the OS X installer and it smugly told me that the disk would have been repaired by Disk Tools at startup and all it could do was to verify it, which it did!
