New .avi movies use a codec called DIVX / MPEG4. Its quite new and there are
quite a few different versions. I have a lot of trouble playing .avi's also.
The best solution is to get a copy of DIVX Player and Windows Media Player
6.3 (Almost impossible to find on the web as Microsoft removed it from their
site)

Also you might want to try downloading all the MPEG4/DIVX codecs you can
find. I have quite a few and I can get most .avi's to play properly.

The extentions I have are:

MS MPEG 4.2
MPEG4 - Divx 3.0b3
3ivx Delta 2 Decoder

Hope this helps.

Scott
