I recently purchased the latest Ben Harper CD "Diamonds on the
Inside" ... if I'm a fan of any artist at all I guess I could be
called a Ben Harper fan as I have purchased all his albums. When I
went to rip the album so I could listen to it on my Laptop/ at work
/plane/ soon to be purchased iPod not only can I not rip it the
PowerBook will not even accept the CD in the drive just spins it for
a few seconds then spits it out... then I read that it's copy
protected and needs Pentium what ever and windows this or that but no
mention of Mac support or even the lack off...
apart from ripping them via a Audio CD player via my iMic are there
any hacks/patches etc for at least getting the cd to play even if I
can't rip it?
two ironies arise...
1:I have around 9000 songs on my play list from close to a 700 CD
that I own... purchased... payed for ... gave them their legal due
dues and now THEY are treating ME as a thief while depriving me of
my legal right to listen to this album in the format I choose. What
next? sheet music that spontaneously combusts when used to write MIDI
files?
2: The US DigiPak issue has no copy protection - a work associate who
got it on import lent me this before I purchased my copy so I could
listen to it... I ripped it so that I wouldn't have to borrow it for
more than a few minutes and liked it so I decided to buy it... just
as well I didn't delete the original MP3's - I thumb my nose at the
pig dog Australian distributors feeble attempt at stopping my so
called piracy.
