HI, I put a Sonnet G4/400 into my 7600 and have not had any problems with the card itself.
As for OSX and these cards, I am running OSX 10.1.5 and it does fine, but really was a pain to get running. It's not so much the card that is the problem, it's the older machines and OSX requirements. My recommendation would be to anyone wanting to go down this path is to stick with OS 9x. Then your machine will fly, you'll still have your finger nails and sanity, and like Bob says, you can save more for a newer machine that will run OSX without a problem.
