BTW, "IP Printing" is Apple for LPR printing, yes? There's an entirely
separate "Internet Printing Protocol" or IPP that's HTTP-based, but as
far as I can tell OSX uses LPR not IPP when "IP Printing" is selected.

This seems strange on a machine that has a print system based on CUPS
(the primary print system to support IPP at present), so could there be
something I'm missing?

As for setting Win2k to "IP printing" - you will probably need to enable
the LPR print service, which on win2k might be labeled something like
"Print services for UNIX".

That said, I thought OSX could print fine over SMB (Windows networking)
- what happens if you enter "\\hostname\printername" (or
"//hostname/printername") manually as the location for the SMB printer?
