Ok, so, the problem that Malcolm is really
describing with his Internet saga is that he is
unable to send email. There are two ways of
resolving that, but I need to provide a little
background first.

As I said, there are two ways of resolving that:
1. Find an email server that provides another way of authenticating you.
2. Bring your own email server along.

I was at a conference recently with wireless
access, so I could receive email, but couldn't
send. This has been an ongoing problem... During
the boring talks I located this article and was
able to set up my laptop as an smtp server. Even
with my 10 years forgotten unix skills. However,
if you know no unix, beware.
