Yes, I had the same problem. You need a USB Logitech headphone and mic
and you will have no probs.

When I tried using the internal microphone it had an echo that

My friends overseas have told me that my eMac's internal microphone
is not very good using Skype.
So last week I bought a Logitech headphone & microphone set.
It plugs into the Audio and Headphone sockets.
I have an eMac 1.25Mhz using OSX 10.3.9
However when I switch to external line-in microphone in System
Preferences, there is no sound in. The volume indicator is dead. But
the headphones work fine.
So I went to the local markets today and bought a cheap line-in
microphone.
The story is the same. Zero volume level.
Am I missing something here or would I be better off using a USB
microphone ?
