Hi Greg

Thanks for your advice.

Priories
1 Portable good quality 2nd TV for home (we can't watch Dr Who in lounge and cook braised brains, kidneys and onions in kitchen and watch at same time). 2 Could drag it into bedroom for bedtime reviewing of SBS late night viewing. 3 Could put into spare bedroom for visitors, without getting hernia et al. 4 Could use as second monitor for Powerbook for school and GMUG use when needed (tax thingie here!) But I could buy a cheap conventional small screen TV for maybe $300-500 to do 1-3 but it would be big to lug around home and perch on kitchen ledge.
...just another wild idea maybe

The "little" Phillips I saw at HN today had pic quality probably better then our big screen Vega Trinitron at home, AND it costs $500 more than we paid for it 3 yrs ago. Probably hard to justify really!

Hi Reg,

There are quite a few around at the moment, but resolution still tends to be poor in the larger size monitors. From what I've seen, the 23" monitors with 1280 x 768 resolution are more for display/TV purposes than being used
as a monitor, but I guess it depends on your expectations as well.

You certainly won't find anything at half these prices (unless their damaged stock etc.), but I can give you very competitive pricing on Sony, Philips,
BenQ, Samsung, Viewsonic + many more other brand.

Cheers to all!

Kind regards,

Hi All WAMUGgers

I'm interested in your feedback on a small/er LCD Tv that could also
double as a monitor.
Something portable that could be second TV at home and also I could
use as second monitor for Powerbook.

Websearch shows Sony Vega MFMHT95 - 19" and -MHT75 - 17" with
1280x1024 resolution but Sony retail at about $1400-1800.

Local HN store has a Phillips 23PF9946/79 (23") 1280x79 for $1900
showroom display.

*Actually I was thinking of paying about half these prices at most!

LCD seems very expensive. I could buy an iBook for less $$ but not
such a big display.
