I have espoused the simplicity of Macs since the LISA.
Am about to abandon ship
Why is it so difficult to connect an Airport Extreme Base Station
to a G4 12" PB 2004 with a 802.11G wireless card.
Westnet whom I recommended to my daughter as a Mac helpful broadband
provider has advised that they have no expertise re Mac setup (one
technician's comments after a 30 minute conversation). I recommended
Westnet after comments through the WAMUG forum.
Is there anyone out there who can offer a layperson's approach to
resolving what I thought to be a simple issue.
I have a Netgear wireless router and it has never missed a beat.
Spending approx $300 for a Mac base station should surely offer a
simpler solution.
The Apple sites offer no obvious assistance to beginners with this problem.
The printer connects instantly but the connection to web seems impossible.
It would seem that the problem is not connecting to the base station,
but connecting to the internet via the base station. I'd suggest that
you check the DNS settings on the base station (and the Mac if it's
not getting its settings via DHCP from the base station).
Good luck,
Shay
