Just wondering if anyone has come a cross a reasonable deal for broadband on an anticpated pc/mac home network...at moment with iinet on good old slow dial up...suggestions?

Hi Warren

Despite being a BIG Westnet fan, you are already with iiNet so simply going over to ADSL with them will mean no change of email address. This may not be a factor if you are mainly using free email like hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc.

As Philippe points out many deals are almost the same across price brackets, one thing I will say on deals is steer well clear of the cheapest ADSL deals ie the 200MB and 500MB deals, for an extra $10/mth you'll get ADSL without the home-arrest-style ankle bracelet ;-) I cant think of a worse situation than being connected at =>256k and only able to get at 500MB of data before I am throttled or charged more or both. My (current) employer was on a 256k/200MB $30 deal and was charged excess right up to their cap of $60 per month *and* throttled to 56k for every one of the 12mths they had it.
Sadly they never realised exactly what was going on.
I changed their plan to a real $60 one from the same ISP and now they get 512k/20GB per month, not the 1.5GB they had averaged previously.

Personally I see these bottom end plans as traps for the folk who 'think they wont use very much'. The ISPs only have to supply a small percentage of what they supply to others who are paying the same amount.
Very naughty!

Have fun
