Failing that there are a number of retailers who carry these type of products for much less than $50. eBay, for instance, has such covers listed for $20-25 including delivery. Try searching for iMask or iSkin. I bought mine via eBay 18 months ago and it is still in top condition.

Thanks - I thought of sticky tape first but then thought the sticky bit will poke through, gather dust etc. But I might fiddle with it and give
it a try!
