Hi Robert
Unfortunately, I already re-copied the most recently downloaded files to the hard drive again. I started the process before realizing I was in fact doing my own "secure delete" by doing this. I downloaded Data Rescue II as you suggested but in demo mode it only downloads 1 file up to 5MB.
I will keep it in case I need it again.
I can re-download some of the files I lost (.avi) as I already had 1/2 converted for iPhone use and saved in iTunes as well as on the WD HD.
Thank goodness I recently upped my off peak limit to 20GB.
Thanks anyway.
Andrew

Hi All
Can anyone suggest a way to recover files I accidentally deleted from my WD 500GB external hard drive mounted on my 24" iMac?
I am running OSX 10.5.7.
The files were about 18GB of downloads and took ages to get. I thought I was deleting the originals from the Mac not the copies. The originals were already gone.
I have emptied the trash, but did not use "Empty Securely"
Thanks
Andrew

URGENT ... IMPORTANT

Do NOT write anything to the external drive !

Obtaim an additional external drive for recovered files
or make sure you can save recovered file on your iMac.
