Hi all
I recently had trouble getting rid of maxtor software so I could
reinstall it - if you have the original installer (might be in
library>receipts if you lost the disc - I did and it was!) go to the
file menu of the installer where it says list files, and you get a
list of what it's going to install. Track those down and bin them.
Worked for me; might help someone else

Hi John,
Little Snitch will pop up windows every time something wants to
connect to your Mac to "Phone Home".
The problem Stephen is having is it is still doing this after he
"thought" he had uninstalled Little Snitch Application.
But, he has not uninstalled it correctly and associated Little
Snitch files are still on his computer and giving him the pop up
windows.
Little Snitch is not a bad application, its up to you whether you
want use it or not.
But, if you want to uninstall, use an application like AppZapper
(which is not free) <http://www.appzapper.com/> or AppCleaner
(free) <http://appcleaner.en.softonic.com/mac>
I don't know now if the Little Snitch "Uninstaller" works any
better than it did in previous versions. It did leave some files on
your Mac even after you used the Uninstaller.
I prefer using AppZapper to delete any applications.
I also use a rule "Never Install anything unless you know how to
Uninstall it"!

Hi folks
I get the same windows as Stephen but I assume it is just Little
Snitch alerting me to a site that wants to connect to my Mac.
Should I really delete the App. or is it OK?

Hi there folks,
A couple of nights ago I downloaded and installed "Little
Snitch" as mentioned by some WAMUG members after that ABC 4
Corners Show. Anyway, because I was a little concerned about it
I decided to delete it from my applications folder.
Ever since then I have been getting numerous windows popping up
asking for certain applications to be given permission to
connect to certain sites. The one on my screen at the moment
says:-
"GoogleSoftwareUpdateAgent wants to connect to
safebrowsing.clients.google.com on TCP port 443 (htts)." There
are a variety of buttons to select below this and also a link
that states "Show details ..."
Then the option to DENY or ALLOW. At the top left corner of
each of these windows is a smaller overlapping window that
looks something like an input box.
What the heck is all this about and how do I get rid of it ?
I have searched using Spotlight for any other iterations of
Little Snitch but cannot find any.
Hi Stephen,
You should have Uninstalled Little Snitch by following the
instructions below:
"Open the Little Snitch Installer application and click the
Uninstall button. If you don’t have the Installer available on
your computer anymore, you can re-download it from our Download
Page."
Doesn't sound like you did, so this is a list of every file that
Little Snitch 2.0.3 would have installed on your system.
While I believe the list to be complete, if anyone discovers
other files I have missed, please post a follow up with the path
to the file.
Note that lines ending with a '/' represent directories that
contain one or more files which are only part of Little Snitch.
Note further that the '~' symbol represents your home directory.
Finally, note that the directory marked with '(*)' contains the
Little Snitch registration files, including a hidden file (.lsd)
that will not show up in a Finder window. Removing this
directory will, however, remove all traces of your registration
from your system.
~/Library/Application Support/Little Snitch/ etc.
After removing the above directories, you will need to reboot
your machine in order to boot a new kernel that does not contain
the Little Snitch kernel extension. That is, unless you know how
to use the kextunload(8) command from the command line to do it
manually.

Hi Ronni, "Greetings"! Re above would'nt Ap Zapper do the same
job without the "Hassle". I find it an essential applic. for
deleting including all associated files.
Ciao Philip.
