Evening (Argh! Morning)

I was going to query whether it was a Benq!

No its an Apple, that came with the Macpro

I had a Benq experience the same issues as described by Gary and Ruben! It was my personal 17" circa 2004-5. It was under warranty and I took it to a service centre but typically it didn't fault while they had it. I ended up having it in storage due to moving and when I pulled it out it didn't work. By then it would have been out of warranty so I threw it especially with the prices of LCD's going down. Even today I still don't run with an LCD at home just using the laptop screen.

Although I wasn't aware that it could be quite a common occurrence!

I have a similar problem with my 2nd monitor. It's a 17" BenQ and it even comes on for a few seconds before the screen goes black. I pulled it apart to see if I could notice any burnt out transistors but I couldn't.

I've decided not to bother trying to fix it since it's possible to buy a 20" BenQ brand new with a warranty for $150

Ruben

sounds like the power supply "sees" a short circuit thus it switches off & then retries it again.... may be its a problem in the back lighting, are you sure its not just on standby because of a problem with dvi cable?????
would have to be taken apart........

I have a 23in + 20 in screen attached my a mac pro.
Last night the RCD tripped.

now the 20 inc screen show just a black screen - the little light at bottom RH corner flickers on and off.

I've restarted with swapped DVI port with just the 20 inc attached - but still no screen - just black.

what have I done to my screen?
