Hi Alastair, I was part way through typing an email to you re exactly what you have now found out.
iTunes still stores its library data files in your user folder, I think with the change from "old Mac" to "New Mac", the associated Library Data files that were on the "Old Mac" (that were linking to the iTunes files on External Drive are not in your user folder on the "New Mac"), therefore the associated link pointing iTunes to the Library on the External Drive is not there. I then went on in great detail how you could re-associate the link on the new Mac to the External Drive (not knowing you still had the old mac). Would have saved us some time if we had of know that bit of information ;-) I won't bother now sending all the details. Good to hear you have iTunes working again, the result is all we are concerned about.
