Hi Yvonne,

My Warning first... Make sure you have CURRENT BACKUPS!
Are you able to complete Time Machine backups and a bootable backup without the
PowerBook going to sleep?

What did the "system.log" show... Did the system logs report: "Power
Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep."?

Is the PowerBook only experiencing this sleep every couple of minutes when
using or playing back EyeTV recordings?
Is it going to sleep when you are doing other things on your PowerBook?

If it is going to sleep every couple of minutes when working or doing anything
else on your computer, on power adapter or battery, this as I mentioned
previously sounds like a hardware issue.

If it is a hardware issue, I doubt the cost of repair would be worth it, as
the PowerBook is a vintage machine, the cost to replace the Logic Board or
power converter or if it is the trackpad heat sensor monitoring the trackpad;
system logs report 'Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going
to sleep.' Apple Service would most probably replace the heat sensor, or the
entire top case which holds the trackpad heat sensor.

If the sleep every couple of minutes is happening system wide... as I mentioned
above "Make sure you have CURRENT BACKUPS! "
And if you wish to have a Apple Technician test and advise you, make an
appointment and take the PowerBook to Boz at MacWorx Joondalup.

But first BACKUP, and let me know what the system log reported and if this
issue is system wide (happening regardless of what application you are working
in or doing on the BP.

Cheers,
Ronni
