Israel saja tidak mengijinkan pembangunan di sekitar kota Jerusalem lama secara sembarangan. Bahkan ketika Hotel King David dibangun, ia tidak boleh terlalu dekat dengan situs-situs yang disucikan oleh agama- agama Semit dan harus menggunakan batu yang sama dengan batu kota Jerusalem lama.
