Except it is not that simple, as we discussed on IRC. The original
templates.txt was as hacky as the original template loading code, and
getting it all to work in all cases may simply not be worthwhile.

Whatever mod Rman is working on. Who knows what other mods people are
working on, that have also changed to fit?
