#3067: sudden slowdowns while playing in linux, tested on more than 1 computer

When playing on linux the game suddenly starts going slower for some time,
then back to normal speed , then slow again, etc.
I have tested it on more than one computer and I can't find any
workaround, I have tested without sound, shadows, with small resolution
and texture size, with QT and with SDL, with the master version and with
the stable one (2.3.9), The problem seems to be related to the AI in some
way, I have profiled two functions inside the game loop: gameStateUpdate()
and renderLoop() by using wzGetTicks while playing in skirmish mode for 10
minutes or so. I got this graph:

vertical axis is milliseconds, you can clearly see the abnormal
performance drops.
