Regarding your questions: AFAIK there is no current work on wiab-mail
integration and not on some form of contacts. However, if we take in
account also wave extensions made by 3-rd party developers for Google
Wave the situation is a bit different. There are a few extensions that
attempt to provide some email integration. I am not aware of
extensions that emulate address book - but in principle the wiab
Data/Robot API provides  a means for this. The question is what you
need/want/up to.
To summarize, most probably, Wiab won't provide out of the box
features you requested any time soon.
