This is a true record for me....two posts in less than a month and only one
other in the previous 7 years. When Last I wrote, I mentioned our radio show
"The Red Rooster Party", a non-profit, community radio show featuring roots
music. We began a segment called "The Mayberry Corner" where we ask our
listeners questions about The Andy Griffith Show, VERY easy questions. We are
located at the University of CT so there is no expectation that listeners know
anything about the show. Last week we asked the question.....hold your breath
and then gaffaw..."What was it that Aunt Bee made that tasted like
kerosene?".....................It took 7 calls to get the correct answer! It
was plumb pitiful. We also played "The Darling Boys" by the Dillards and Andy
singing "Cindy". The winner of our trivia contest wisely chose the Andy
Griffith CD we offered. Our goal is to bring a little bit of the humor and
values of Mayberry to other parts of the world. We have listeners in England,
Japan, India, Australia, and Germany along with folks here in the State of New
England and other parts of the U.S. We also gave out Rodney Dillard's recipe
for Blackened Pig (sounds better than most of my cooking). Being raised in NC,
both my husband and myself embrace Mayberry. We hope that all of you have a
wonderful Christmas and a great beginning to your New Year. I don't want to be
considered an "interloper", I just like the company, Marti & Jim,The Red
Rooster Party, WHUS.org
