To Allan Newsome and all:

Fifteen years, holy cow! It seems so long ago. Now, you old-timers
have heard this from me before, so this is for the new recruits:

I had been on the Prodigy network in April of 1991 and started the
subject, "The Andy Griffith Show". After a few replies and a little
chatter, the subject died off. Very shortly, Allan began the same
subject and the rest is 15 years of history. We were a small group back
then, but even in the beginning when we had the occasional "Ben Weaver"
come by, Allan was quick to keep the conversation in proper order. I
wish I had copies of some of those conversations, but the memories of
the early days of this board are great. I think Prodigy changed their
monthly rate from $9.95 to $12.95 and Floyd, I mean Allan said, "I won't
pay" and something about price spiraling and such. Allan then migrated
the board onto the Internet and was careful to nurture it along to make
it the fine community it is today. I'm sure it's been a lot of work for
him and the support of his lovely wife, Jan has certainly helped things
along. The long timers here have seen the same subjects discussed many
times, but haven't complained knowing it was new to some. We've kept
the gossip down and there hasn't been much of a moulage since Paul, I
think it was, started the Johnny Coons theory of the man who turned out
to be Tom Jacobs. After 15 years, we still don't know who Mr. Schwamp
really is, but we do know that this is a great place to visit with some
really great people. Allan, you and I may be the only charter members
left here (anyone else, please check in), but that's okay because we
have great company.

The best part about this board for me? It's not what you might think.
It's the fact that I can call a fine person like Allan Newsome my
friend. I only regret that the distance between us prevents us from
getting together. And to all you members of this great board, I salute
you. Happy 15th anniversary!

-Bob
