Thanks, Paul, for your information on the "color" era theme. I don't have those on DVD, and I just assumed they would be in the same dual keys as the B & W theme. (Never assume...) Perhaps there is something in the theory that there was a more relaxed key at the end. Many composers have felt that different keys have different "personalities." We may never know the real reason to this mystery, though.
Take care, Loren <In the color years, both the opening and closing themes were in E flat.? The opening theme was also shortened considerably, presumably so they could squeeze in one more commercial.? As far as an explanation goes ... I don't know.? Perhaps Mr. Hagen's aim was to make the closing theme sound more relaxed, as if everyone's troubles were over.
