Sam your correct. Block is " the head ", where you get the term "knock your block off ". This usually happens soon after the chip flies off of someone's shoulder. I wonder how the episode would have ended if Opie would have been challenged by Helen's niece, Cynthia and she was the one with the chip on the shoulder.
