I have been using .7em up to .9em for my documents, which is a lot better than a fixed font. At least we have two ways to work with font.

From what I understand of it, it's best to specify your font-sizes in
percentages in the stylesheet
eg .nameclass {font-size:100%;}

This works in IE and Netscape, from my tests.
