Dominique, So the options narrow considerably; I take it frames are now frowned on as being useful to achieve both the original window (in part at least) and changing information.
Since I am now finding myself irritated by some of the newer floating devices which cover text if the window in use is not fully opened up (I reckon other people are too - and by the float jumping to cause a flicker for a sensitive eye) I am wondering if there remains any usable way to display twos sets of information at the same time. Joseph Chacha Joe For a site of laughs and a FREE ezine: www.smilepoetryweekly.com From: Dominique Clawson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Well, Joe: I think that popups are windows that open without user's input. What I'm doing is have the user click on the link because it is information that they want to access. So to me the difference is one is forced on you (travel there, buy this, take the survey, etc.) and the other is a wanted action. And up until this silly popup guard we now use, there was a difference. Now, no matter how the new window is called (by an open onload or by clicking on a link) if it opens out of the original window, it is considered a popup and therefore blocked. Regards, Dominique David, > - a new named window, through a targeted link. How is this third option different from a pop-up? Your one and two are JavaScript and same window; I am struggling to understand the difference here. I would like an acceptable way to show information which does not get the 'pop-up' condemnation or irritation. But presumably this option is another window. Sorry if I seem dense, blame the 'flu if so ;-) Joseph ____ • The WDVL Discussion List from WDVL.COM • ____ To Join wdvltalk, Send An Email To: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Send Your Posts To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To set a personal password send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the words: "set WDVLTALK pw=yourpassword" in the body of the email.
