David,

Thanks for your sympathy and suggesting alternative mailsender. During the weekend, PH tech support seemed continuing to work on the problem and now it's fixed. Reading the two correspondences from him below, I couldn't see exactly what is the problem or bug that needs to be fixed. Anyone knows any hint there? If it is php-oriented, why there is no spreading problem among other hosting servers? (yet, "the software developers have this on the list of fixes but just not released yet"???)

Correspondence1: "i do have a domain by domain fix for the problem, what is your domain(s)? and i will reenable phpmail() for you."

Correspondence2 (after I gave him my two domain names): "i just turned the mail() command back on. the "fix" is really something that should be done anyhow. basically when you send mail via phpmail() i dont know really who is creating the processes so now i do have to add them one account at a time however i will be able to see what userid is sending the mail so basically i can track down the spammers better.

the software developers have this on the list of fixes but just not released yet."

Comments or thoughts on PH's action are appreciated. Thanks

KoaFar

PeopleHost, if they're as much of a useless shower of b***ards as they
sound.

I had problems with One + One's tech support, they were useless, so I
changed my host - I'm happy now (with a small provider called Bytemark
- http://www.bytemark.co.uk/)

If changing hosting provider is not an option for whatever reason, I'd
suggest finding an alternative to PHP's mail() function to deploy. It
wouldn't be too hard to roll your own SMTP-based replacement, but
plenty of people have already done it. Search for PHPMailer - that's
an excellent PHP class with a lot of flexibility, and you could use
that to send mails via SMTP.
