Subject: Re: [wdvltalk] IE display problem

Thanks for the reply.

Last week when my DSL went out, I called tech support to get back online.
They had me go to a certain website (192.168.0.1) to try and fix the
problem, but anytime I tried to navigate from there I got a blank page. The
woman did tell me to go to the Advanced tab under Internet Options and click
on Restore Defaults. The only problem is that I don't remember what they
were originally set to - looks o.k. to me though.

I will try your other suggestions.

Thanks,
Riva

192.168.0.1 would be your modem. The 192.168.xxx.xxx address range is a
private address and isn't on the internet. It is purely local. Your
individual machines will have a 192.168 address supplied by the DHCP server
built into the modem or in your router behind the modem.

This suggests that if you have a modem plus router setup that any changes
you made to 192.168.0.1 were made to your router and not the modem. If all
you did in the end was reset the router, it shouldn't matter.

However, you haven't reset the modem then. To do that, plug in directly to
the modem from any machine. Then login to the 192.169.0.1 address and do the
reset. Then replug back to the router and recycle the router (power on and
off) and the modem. Router back on first, then modem. That should clear the
dsl modem and any problems it has.
