According to the docs you can generate a tar.gz using mode='w:g' but I tried and it does not work on 2.5. So the process of making the w2p involves a tmp step of creating a tar file that is then removed. Somehow the unlink does not work on window. I do not know why. One solution may be to create the tar in a temp file.
