Having just stumbled upon web2py <24hrs ago, i'm quite excited by the promise of this framework, and how quickly it enables a novice programmer like myself to build things that might even be useful.
That being said: for my first real application, i need something a bit more sophisticated than the minimalist wiki i have so easily installed ( http://web2py.com/appliances/default/show/55 ), but easier to install than this one Massimo told me should meet most of my requirements ( http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~alvarojusten/web2py-wiki/trunk/files -i am trying to build this, but am new to so many things here, e.g. Bazaar, it is taking some time). What i look for in a wiki is nothing exotic, just the essential functions that you expect to find in any wiki that gets used seriously day after day, such as: page history/ revision/ diffs (even your minimalist wiki gives some history, but i don't find a view with highlighted diffs), page catalog with different views (sort by recency or by alphabetized names being two most important)... A robust Search feature is essential, as is a BackLinks pointer on every page. Plugins are nice to have, but not essential, so long as your markup language is one of the popular favorites (i'm most comfortable with MarkDown, but have used ST and ReST in the past, easy enough). File upload/DL widget and inline image display, also would be nice to have. If i could find such things in an easy upload-and-install package, of course i'd be delighted. If i must build it from a bunch of files in some VCS repository, i will try... But before going to such lengths, i'd sure like to know if its going to work for me. Advice from anyone who's been down this road would be much appreciated. Yours, Walt -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "web2py-users" group.
