now with attachement Hi Harald, Thanks for your feedback, yep I tested all that, and still there is no camera found in macam, or in skype or any other app. As you can see in the attached picture, it does show up in the System profiler. any clues?

Make sure you try different USB ports, you should not need to restart the Mac, or even the macam application for that matter. Plug the webcam in, open the System Profiler (About this Mac -> More Info...) Look at the USB pane, does the camera show up? Honestly, it sounds like either the camera or the USB port is broken. Test the USB port with some other device. If the camera does show up System Profiler, then it is probably OK, send me the Vendor & Product IDs.
