Hello!
Thanks for a greatly needed program. (I have pertinent technical
info at the bottom of this email.) I just obtained a Logitech
Communicate STX and macam seems to work very nicely with it.
I can do all the little tweaks to the video properties (gamma,
contrast, etc.), I can grab pictures and record movies. All appears
good from macam.app. I have even been able to have a video call with
the latest Skype client for mac using the macam.component installed
in /Library/Quicktime as instructed.
Here's the problem: If I save the camera settings (thereby creating
a .plist file in ~/Library/Preferences) then Skype will not recognize
the camera AT ALL. In fact, it appears that once that preference
file exists, OSX thinks that the macam component is in use by another
program because I cannot delete it by emptying the Trash. I believe
this is why Skype fails to recognize the camera---it thinks something
else has taken control of it.
Can I provide further information on this problem to help you out? I
will also post this in the Skype forums.
