The link you provided is for Mac OS 9 drivers.
Did you try <http://www.vimicro.com/english/product/pc003.htm>?
macam should work fine. You should only need the latest release, 0.9.1
First try the macam application with the camera plugged directly into
the computer. Once everything is working, then install the component.
Check the installation with HackTVCarbon.
