After rdar://188336453, NSPanGestureRecognizer updates its location before
transitioning to .began,
so -locationInView: now returns the current position rather than where a pan
started, and the pan
stops yielding to sliders and models when we look for the location in
-gestureRecognizerShouldBegin.
We instead adopt -_startLocationInView:, which returns what we were originally
reading from -locationInView:.
