It seems that with CLSQL6 (now available from http://git.b9.com/clsql.git) is now possible to have standard-db-objects use other connections than their creating one. The technique is described here: http://russ.unwashedmeme.com/blog/?p=218 So, now, `with-database' and a customized `choose-database-for-instance' method, should be sufficient.
