Near the end of this FAQ answer is the suggestion to add a sleep statement to the wotaskd startup script if wotaskd is starting before network services have been fully initialized. Pierre suggested a better solution, one that is used by wotaskd in WO 5.4 under Leopard but that should work under Tiger as well. Instead of sleep:
