... that was probably because some Apple created structure was
persisting, since it soon stopped after switching back to Wonder. On
the other hand, when I added Anjo's suggestion below, it started
working again.
Fix was to add in wotaskd Properties:
er.extensions.ERXMessageEncoding.Enabled=false
Re-build and run. Should work.
