Which is why I was asking about the cloud deployment. AWS has 2GB in
the "small" variant and 8GB in the medium. Small will be .10c/h,
others vary. So you'll be at ~$70/month for one machine, but with
basically no upper limit and an easy way to re-start in case your
server goes down. The downside is that you might get shut down and so
will have to get a second machine and get attached storage.
Frankly, hosting your own machine is not nothing I think makes sense -
except for the case you need core image or some other OSX only thing.
Pure app-/db-server stuff is most likely better dealt with a linux box.
Having to physically GO to a datacenter doesn't seem like a good idea
for a frigging mini. My *time* would be more expensive than the
machine...

Like what slicehost.com can do starting at $20/month.
Not really. It doesn't really work deploying any significant WO app
with 256MB RAM free for app and maybe database and whatnot. It might
be cheaper getting a Mac Mini in a colocation or getting a complete
server for yourself (have seen that for around $100 a month).
Unfortunately, it is not cheap. But I have never really looked at
cheap options for it as I didn't have to.
