This may not be the answer but it caught me this week. If the extended download attribute on a jar is set you will get a java.util.zip.ZipException. This attribute is the one that OSX uses to ask you if you want to open this file that was downloaded from the internet. Here is a good link discribing the issue and how it can be delt with.
