Yeah, these are good points, Ramsey. But I am wondering if the JDK is a
requirement for running the applications. In the past, at least in windows
deployment, it was a requirement.

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/WebObjects/Web_Applications/Deployment/Windows#Before_you_start
regarding the SDK issue in Windows deployment.
-------------------
SDK installation
Next thing is to install a Java-SDK. The version of the SDK must be greater or
equal to 1.3.1, SDK 1.3.0 will not work. Also, you have to install a SDK,
installing only a runtime environment (JRE) will not work.
I would suggest using SDK 1.4.0 or higher unless you experience problems with
it (someone mentioned issues with Timestamp's) . Especially on multiprocessor
systems, 1.4.0's concurrent garbage collection is a big plus. If you do
cross-platform development (OSX/Windows) be sure to download the full
international SDK from Sun (the biggest package), as only this version contains
all the font encodings from the Mac. Else, you will get exceptions stating that
NSMacOSRomanStringEncoding could not be found.
